1. I did my best to make my WR 121 students laugh while we studied the usual class killers: comma splice, semi-colon, colon, subordinating conjunctions, and other points of grammar.
2. Tyler and Jonathan stood on the wide porch of the second level of the Center building performing a read through of a script.
3. The sun filtering through orange and red and yellow leaves all over town made the ground beneath the trees shimmer with autumn colors.
Okay, "comma splice, semi-colon, colon, subordinating conjunctions, and other points of grammar"--I'm sendin' that whole list of killers ta Homeland Security.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job making the class laugh, that's for sure. I cannot NOT laugh when I talk about a colon with someone.......not only does this punctuation come with it's own trumpet solo, it also evacuates the bowels and makes you feel 10 pounds lighter!! I am looking forward to class tomorrow night! :-) You are one of the best teachers I have ever had and always enjoy how simple you make complicated situations fun and easy to laugh at. Thanks Bill!! You rock!
ReplyDeleteI can see how another teacher could make "the usual class killers: comma splice, semi-colon, colon, subordinating conjunctions, and other points of grammar." very boring. I think you did a great job in keeping us attentive and keeping things entertaining at the same time. Thanks to you for keeping the class fun to attend. I really do enjoy all your efforts.
