1. Debbie kept me posted on her long, slow, delayed, forever trip from Valley Cottage, NY to Chicago and then to her brother's lake house on Lake Michigan. The good news, after tarmac delays (with no a/c), it taking an hour to rent a car in Chicago, and stand still traffic coming out of Chicago, is that she made it to Indiana in time to have a bite to eat and a beer at Burn 'Em, a favorite brewery of ours, and made it to the concert in Michigan City where Hiram was the featured artist and soloist.
It all worked out, but it was a grind.
The pictures Debbie has sent to Christy, Carol, and me have been uplifting. Molly and Hiram's family looks happy and healthy. So does Brian, Debbie's brother. They are enjoying all being reunited.
2. Here in Kellogg, nothing was a grind. My replacement moka pot works beautifully. I got laundry done. It was a good puzzle solving day. Gibbs is content. Copper rested all day and ate well. If what a guy wants from a day is ease and contentment, that's what happened for me in Kellogg.
3. I also got out the wok and fried chicken tenders in hot oil with rings of white onion. As the chicken neared being cooked through, I added a can of black beans and a bag of frozen sweet corn, heated them up and before long I stirred in leftover jasmine rice from last night. I seasoned it all with Trader Joe's Everything But the Elote and rounded out this day of following Debbie's travel travails and indulging my ease at home with a solid bowl of food.
