1. It's Thursday. I'm writing about Wednesday. A lot has happened on Thursday that I enjoyed and will write about tomorrow.
But I'm tired.
For now, i'll just say that I thoroughly enjoyed going to Spokane on Wednesday, Oct.14th to hear historian and public intellectual Jon Meacham give the keynote address for the Whitworth University President's Leadership Forum at the Fox Theater.
Right now, I'm thinking a lot about what he said about the life of the USA and the need for curiosity. Right away I thought of the dart game in Ted Lasso and the words attributed to Walt Whitman that he didn't write! Those words work, no matter who wrote them: "Be curious. Not judgmental."
2. I was walking on air and very stimulated after the program ended and my enthusiasm for the evening's riches kick up a few notches when I suddenly saw that Kenton Bird and his wife Gerri Sayler were in the house along with their friend, Rev. Linda Bartholomew, a priest at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Moscow. The four of us tried to cram about 40 minutes of conversation into about ten minutes and left ourselves plenty to discuss next time we see each other.
3. I hopped across First Ave. and into the Griffin Tavern and enjoyed a Hot Honey Chicken sandwich with fries and a refreshing bottle of Henry Weinhardt's root beer.
(A self-reminder for if I every look back at this post. I want to remember that I headed to my parking spot with a half of that sandwich in a box and a young guy about a block away from the tavern asked me where Jesus was. I told him Jesus was right here. Then he asked if he could have a bite or two of my sandwich. I gave him what I carried out, hoping he liked hot honey!)
