1. I picked up Ed around 7:30 and we hit the road for the Wildhorse Resort near Pendleton. Our first stop was at the Breakfast Nook, always a pleasure, where I ordered, but couldn't finish, a chicken fried steak breakfast. Later, we stopped at Starbucks in Ritzville for cup of coffee and continued our easy, uneventful drive.
2. I got settled in and cleaned up and around 4:00 met Colette at the Oregon Grain Growers. We split a small Marilyn Monroe pizza topped with white sauce, Mozzarella and Ricotta cheese, and artichokes. We also ordered a salad they recently started serving with, among other things, chopped Romaine, feta cheese, avocados, strawberries, and a creamy avocado dressing. It was a smashing salad and paired perfectly with the pizza.
Colette and I had a lot to talk about and that we were at our table for nearly four hours didn't cause any problem at the restaurant.
3. Back at the resort, I got a message that the guys were congregating in Ed's room where he had cracked open a fifth of 1910 Pendleton Rye Whiskey. Mike, Ed, Terry, and I each enjoyed a taste or two (Jake declined) and the five of us yakked like old times, enjoying one another's company and the great rye whiskey.
