1. I had a lot of business to take care of today, which included a consultation with the Deke over the phone, Kellogg to Eugene, and arrived at the decision we needed to make. I texted the Deke while she was in a meeting, but soon she called me and, even though she sounded very tired at the end of the school day, she told me things were going "really good!" and that she and Laura and TR would be practicing more on Friday for their performance together at Tsunami Books.
2. Christy invited me to join Everett and her for dinner and a Zag exhibition game between Gonzaga and Central Washington University, a mammoth mismatch. Christy fixed stuffed green peppers for dinner, using German sausage from the pork purchase we made together early last summer, and accompanied these delicious peppers with bread and a delicious chopped salad. The Zags creamed CWU, 108-69, and in such a mismatch it's hard to really get a good sense of just how good Gonzaga will be this season. It was fun to see their new players, especially Brandon Clarke and Geno Crandall, and to start to see how they will team up and play together with the players returning.
3. Back home, I posted my account of being transfixed by Pink Floyd in the Whiteaker neighborhood in Eugene on Facebook and links to Christy's and Carol's posts about their unexpected pleasures while traveling out of town. It's right here.
I also flipped on the Blazers/Pelicans game and was very impressed with the play of former Zag, Zach Collins. He's turning out to be a versatile and valuable player for Portland. It's fun to see how much he has matured physically and how much his game has improved since his only year at Gonzaga back in the 2016-17 season.
