1. I went to Jeff's house to take some pictures of a couple of boards of pictures and remembrances built for Jonah's memorial and heard Jonah's brother David Jackson talk on local radio about his brother and about American Indian youth and heard him play his flute with unrehearsed beauty, passion, and grief.
2. Two of my Japanese students in WR 115 told the rest of the class what Japanese history, especially World War II, looks like from their point of view. Both students underscored the hunger and poverty Japanese civilians suffered while their country was at war.
3. My mental health problems have put a strain on the Deke, and I am always happy when we have times like this evening when we are relaxed with each other. We had a big laugh this evening with Molly over pepperoni pizza while excoriating a singer/songwriter we regard as having no talent but who keeps recording CD after CD.
