Gaping

Time and rotting hollowed out this log, but it's feeding new life to ferns and young trees and is home to bugs and shelter to rodents.

I took this picture at the Settlers Grove of Ancient Cedars near the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River.

This answers the big question of that day. Where was RP when we couldn't find him at the end of the hike? Did you find Patches?

This photo is constructed very well. Has me thinking about what might be inside; critter, elf, gnome, gateway to another world.

Great composition. Love the intensity of the colorful outside contrasted against the black interior.

Brill.

I think Settlers Grove is one of the most magical places in North Idaho. Otis and I spent hours there one day with boo when he was little enough to carry in a backpack.
