Three Beautiful Things 06/02/07: Dad, Snug, LeBron

1. I'm very happy with this collage I created of my Dad in remembrance of the eleventh anniversary of his death. The overlay picture is of him beaming at one of my sister's wedding reception in our back yard. The other picture is of him in 1991, beaming in his favorite place in the world: Dick and Floyd's. The man with the Miller Lite in front of him is currently a mystery man. If you happen to know who he is, please tell me in my comments (while I wait for Walt Gaby to figure it out--I have full confidence Walt will come through!) I wrote a remembrance of Dad here. My sisters wrote beautiful and moving remembrances here and here.

2. I took Snug to the dog park. He had a couple of snarl and snap moments around feeling claustrophobic and of being protective of a woman and her child he had just met. These moments ended quickly and the whole rest of the time he played chase, ran after birds, and explored the tall grasses along the border of the park. I am very proud of him.

3. I have never been a Cleveland Cavalier fan, but I am inexplicably very happy for LeBron James coming into his own as a player of will and joy and great talent as he and his teammates closed out the Pistons tonight to advance to the NBA finals. (The photo is from ESPN.com.)

I began reading your blog on your father's birthday and have kept up with your sisters' blogs. I usually get my information on your family in the mother-to-mother route, so it is nice to see photographs as well as reading thoughts and memories in your blog. I plan to attend the class reunion. Count me in as regular reader and very infrequent writer of comments. Sue K -- or in honor of Mrs. Morical -- Susan Kay.

I love your new layout. The combination of gray, black, and white is perfect. Nice picture at the top. A new obsession I can work on... placing pictures on the top.

I liked the phrase "snarl and snap moments" to describe Snug's initial behavior at the dog park. Are there a lot of dogs there? Is it large enough that all the dogs can play without running into each other?

So funny that he was chasing birds. Our dog does that occasionally, but would prefer to play with other dogs, or chase cats. LOL!
