From what I've read you write about Onion, I would venture the guess that it was trying to subtly emphasis the perfidiousness of the deed. Then again, maybe it just needs some fact checkers.

seenthatbefore: I thought the same thing, or that having the shot go in the wrong bleachers was a subtle sign it's satire or it was just a slip of the keyboard that got by their crack fact checkers....hard to know!

I can calmly eat breakfast now. The anxiety this error has caused me has kept me eating for two days. I am now relaxed. Thank you anon. for telling me it's corrected. I adjusted my post to reflect the correction.
